BitPay now accepts Solana (SOL) for virtual card top-ups. Solana produces blocks every ~400 milliseconds, making it the second-fastest chain we support behind Avalanche. For operators running time-critical top-ups, SOL and AVAX are now the two fastest rails.
SPL USDC is also accepted. Stablecoin transfers on Solana have similar USD-tracking properties to other chains but with much lower network fees - typically $0.001 per transaction. Operators doing frequent small top-ups (multiple times per day) save significantly on fees versus Ethereum mainnet.
Native SOL is converted to USD on confirmation. The conversion uses the same 0.7% (PRO) or 2.5% (FREE) flat fee structure as other chains. There is no spread margin applied.
Solana joins the eight supported chains for BitPay card funding. Operators in Solana-native ecosystems (DeFi participants, NFT traders, SOL validators) now have a native path to virtual card spend without bridging. For time-critical operator needs, SOL+AVAX+BNB form the under-30-second tier of funding rails.
