Debit card security and spending controls
Every BitPay virtual debit card comes with a full suite of security controls. You manage everything from the web cabinet or the Telegram Mini App. Toggle spending channels per card, set transaction limits at three levels, and let threshold-based 3-D Secure challenges protect your cards from fraudulent charges automatically.
Per-card channel toggles
Enable or disable online, NFC, and international spending independently on each card. Use one card for online-only subscriptions and another for international travel, with each channel turned on only when you need it.
Three-tier spending limits
Set per-transaction limits, daily spend caps, and monthly ceilings on every card. Limits are applied at the card level, so a compromised or over-spent card never drains your entire wallet balance.
Threshold-based 3-D Secure
Configure a transaction amount threshold above which the system automatically applies 3-D Secure challenge authentication. High-value or suspicious transactions are challenged before they go through, reducing fraud risk without manual review.
Instant freeze and reissue
Freeze any virtual debit card in a single click from the web cabinet or Telegram Mini App. Freezing blocks all new charges immediately. Reissue a card to get a fresh card number, or delete the card entirely. Your remaining cards and wallet balance stay untouched.
Account protection
Session-based authentication, optional two-factor protection, and provider-linking controls are available from the security panel. Keep your account locked down even if your password is compromised.
Dispute and chargeback workflows
Open a dispute on any eligible transaction directly from the history feed. Each dispute is tracked through a clear status timeline from initiation to resolution, and you can see the outcome on the same timeline where your transactions live.
