BitPay added Litecoin (LTC) as a supported funding rail. For operators willing to wait 5-15 minutes for confirmation, LTC offers sub-$1 network fees versus Bitcoin's typical $1-$15 fees. For non-urgent funding (treasury moves, large top-ups), LTC is materially cheaper.
Litecoin's 2.5-minute block time means typical top-ups settle in 5-15 minutes, slower than AVAX/SOL/BNB but faster than BTC. For operators willing to wait, LTC is a middle-ground option that does not sacrifice security (Litecoin uses the same SHA-256 proof-of-work as Bitcoin, with a 4x faster block time).
Operators running BTC funding today can switch to LTC for non-urgent top-ups with no operational changes - the same USD wallet receives the conversion, the same card controls apply, the same dispute workflow runs. The only difference is the host chain and the fees.
LTC joins the eight supported chains for BitPay card funding. The chain is most useful for operators who already hold LTC, or who can move BTC to LTC cheaply. For operators starting from BTC or ETH, the existing rails remain the default; LTC is a complementary option for non-urgent funding.
